East Bladen juniors Ethan Hines and Eian Hines finished third and fourth in the Long Jump in the NCHSAA Class 2A State Track & Field Championships at North Carolina A&T State University Saturday in Greensboro.
Ethan Hines finished third with a leap of 22 feet, 3 inches, while twin brother Eian Hines was fourth with a jump of 22 feet, 0.75 inches.
North Brunswick junior Jayhlen Washington won his second consecutive Class 2A Long Jump title when he cleared 22 feet, 6.75 inches. Jordan-Matthews senior Rahim Mateen jumped 22 feet, 4 inches to take second place.
It was the Hines brothers’ second appearance in the State Class 2A Long Jump Finals. Last year, Eian finished 12th with a jump of 20, 3.5 inches. Ethan was 13th with a leap of 20 feet, 0.5 inches.
