Upcoming EventsThis weekend promises to be a busy one for Bladen County residents.

Tonight, (Thursday, August 16) beginning at 6 p.m. the final Sunset Jams Concert Series will be at Goldston’s Beach. The band that will be performing are called The Fantastic Shakers. The event is sponsored by the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Southeastern Health. The concert will continue whether it’s rain or shine and admission is free.

On Saturday, there will be a Back to School Blast from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in Elizabethtown. The event will help parents to obtain the many items a student needs like: school supplies, free haircuts, school uniforms, health screenings, and more. Also on Saturday, Desmond Bryant will be hosting the free football camp from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at East Bladen High School on Saturday. The camp is meant for youth ages of 6 to 18 years old and a parent or guardian must be present in order to have the child registered. Saturday evening, Shug Productions will be presenting the “The Pin Stripe Murder” at the Paul R. Brown Building in Elizabethtown at 5 p.m. Tickets will be sold from 4 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. at $25 for each person. The tickets will include dinner, dessert, and beverages. People will have the chance of receiving a award for solving the murder at their table. The actors for the play will be including; Brenda Williams, Reginald Thompson, Joyce Britt, Marcus Jones, Sue Ann Stephens, Tracey Hatcher, Jennifer Farris, Collins Williams, Shenice Imhof, and Shakisa Fairley.
