As you are preparing to celebrate Easter this weekend, there are several area events and Easter Egg Hunts taking place that are open to the public.
On Saturday, April 20:
Jones Lake State Park is hosting their annual Easter Egg hunt from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin in 11 a.m. There will also be games, concessions, crafts, prizes and special events. The event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. To pre-register your child, call 910-588-4550.
The Bladen Baptist Association will also host an Easter Egg hunt beginning at 11 a.m. at the Association office. They are located at 137 Mercer Mill Road in Elizabethtown behind the CVS store. Everyone is invited to attend.
There will be a live dramatization of the Crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ presented local churches. The event will take place beginning at 2 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in Elizabethtown.
The Lake Church will host an Easter Egg hunt from 10 am until 12 noon at the White Lake Christian Camp. There will plenty of food, fun and games.
Sandy Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro will hold a Spring Festival and Easter Egg Hunt from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. The church is located at 8299 NC 242 Highway South, near Bladenboro.
Easter Sunday
On Easter Sunday (April 21st) Sandy Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro will conduct ab Easter Sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. followed by an Easter Cantata at 10 a.m. The church is located at 8299 NC 242 Highway South, near Bladenboro.
The Annual Community Early Rise Easter Service will be held at Old Trinity Church on East Broad Street at 7:00 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 21st.
Galeed Baptist Church of Bladenboro has announced their schedule for services for Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. The services will take place as follows:
Sunrise Service 7 am
Breakfast 7:40 am
Sunday School 8:45 am
Worship 9:50 am (Includes Children’s Choir, Adult Choir and Hand Bells)
No evening services are scheduled.
Galeed Baptist Church is located at 571 Galeed Church Road, Bladenboro, N.C.
The Lake Church will host a Sunrise service at 7 am followed by an Easter Sunday service at 8:32 am at the White Lake Christian Camp.
First Baptist Church of Bladenboro located at 500 S. Main Street in Bladenboro will be having a “Journey” Easter event program on April 21st. The community is invited to attend. There will be a puppet show and a skit. Bring your kids and your family.
The Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church will have two performances of their Easter Cantata “At the Cross” on Sunday, April 21st, at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Monday, April 22nd
The annual Blue Monday Shad Fry is set to take place at the William O’Huske Lock and Dam No. 1 in East Arcadia beginning at 11:30 am The Blue Monday Shad Fry was recognized as the State’s official Shad fry by the NC General Assembly in 2013.The tradition began in 1950 with Bernard Carter, Chester Graham, and Archie Graham founding the event which continues today.
