The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Bladen County beginning Saturday at 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Dangerously hot conditions are forecast with heat index values up to 111 degrees expected, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature is expected to reach 99 degrees.

Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events and NWS recommends people drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, if possible, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
