murchison_twinsLYNCHBURG, VA – Former East Bladen football stars Farrell and Larrell Murchison led Louisburg College to a 21-20 victory over the Virginia University at Lynchburg Saturday that completed an unbeaten 9-0 season for the Hurricanes.

Farrell Murchison (pictured, right) sparked the Hurricane ground attack rushing for a game-high 99 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. The 6-2, 225-pound running back bolted 17 yards for a touchdown with 5:17 left in the first half that gave Louisburg a 14-12 lead.

Farrell also carried 6 times for 15 yards on a clock-killing final drive that took the game clock from 3:43 down to 56 seconds remaining to play and helped preserve the victory.

Larrell Murchison (pictured, left) anchored the Louisburg defense with 6 solo tackles and 8 total tackles. The 6-4, 277-pound defensive end had one sack for minus 8 yards and 3.5 tackles-for-loss that totaled minus 12 yards.

Larrell’s sack stopped Lynchburg’s first drive of the second half and forced a punt.

In Louisburg’s 52-40 Homecoming victory over Hocking College a week ago. Farrell ran for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 carries. The East Bladen grad scored on a pair of one-yard runs. The first one put the Hurricanes in front 31-28 in the third period, and the second one sealed the victory in the closing seconds.

Larrell finished with 4 solo tackles and 6 total tackles in the win over Hocking.

For the season Farrell rushed for 947 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged 105 yards rushing per game and 5.7 yards per carry.

Larrell who was also a team captain racked up 29 solo tackles and 41 total tackles. He had 5.5 sacks for 40 yards of losses. The sophmore end had 17.5 tackles-for-loss for a total of 69 yards in losses and also forced one fumble. Larrell averaged 4.6 tackles per game.
