ETTRICK, VA – East Bladen grad Farrell Murchison rushed for a team-high 83 yards Saturday night but his Winston-Salem State Rams lost in overtime 33-27 to Virginia State.

Murchison only had 2 carries for 6 yards in the first half but broke loose for runs of 14 and 8 yards during a 77-yard touchdown drive that gave the Rams a 20-14 lead with 4:35 left in the third quarter.

On the next Ram possession, Murchison galloped 41 yards to the Virginia State 11 yardline then added a 5-yard carry that set up Rod Tinsley’s quarterback sneak that put Winston-Salem up 27-19 with 11:52 remaining in the final period.

Murchison powered through the line for an 11-yard run later in the fourth quarter.

The Trojans tied the game with 40 seconds left in regulation then had the ball first in overtime and scored. The Rams fumbled on their first play in the overtime and VSU recovered to end the game.
