The Elwell Ferry is closed due to high water.

The CSX railroad was unable to replace pavement on a couple of crossings due to weather. An update of road openings / closings is as follows:

OPENINGS:

SR 1561 (Sandhill Loop)

SR 1561 (Sandhill Loop) will open Tuesday February 6, beginning at 3:00 pm.

SR 1741 (East Arcadia Road)

SR 1741 (East Arcadia Road) is open

CLOSINGS:

SR 1709 (Coley Road)

SR 1709 (Coley Road) remains closed in order to replace the bridge over Hammonds Creek. A signed detour is in effect to use SR 1704 (Airport Road) / SR 1713 (White Plains Church Road) / SR 1719 (Vause Road) / SR 1708 (Rosindale Road)

SR 1708 (Rosindale Road)

SR 1708 remains closed at the railroad. Expect closure through mid week. Use NC 211 and SR 1713 (White Plains Church Road) for access around the work area.

US 701 Business (College St) in Clarkton

US 701 Business in Clarkton is closed at the railroad. This location will be closed until mid week. Use WN Railroad Street and WS Railroad Street for access around the closure.

SR1509 (Johnsontown Road)

SR1509 Johnsontown Road will close February 7 BEGINNING AT 8:00 AM between SR1521 Norris Road and SR1561 Sandhill Loop Road in order to replace crosslines.

ELWELL FERRY:

The Elwell Ferry is NOT operating due to high water.
