The 28th annual Bladen We Care Gala was held on Friday at Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin. A large crowd turned out to enjoy delicious food, dancing and to support Bladen We Care.

One of the many Bladen We Care Board members, Mr. Mac Campbell, addressed the crowd. He told those gathered Bladen We Care issued between $45,000 and $50,000 in grants last year to help those in need in Bladen County. The group also awarded $15,000 in scholarships at Bladen Community College and UNC-Pembroke.

Two scholarship recipients were in attendance at the event. They were Mary Annette Price who is the recipient of the Anne Warner Scholarship at UNCP and Matthew Batten who is the recipient of the Bladen We Care scholarship at BCC.

Blackwater Rhythm & Blues band played a variety of hits  including Deeper In Love, Satisfy Me, Soul Man and Mustang Sally. There was also a live auction and items included two flats of Strawberries from Gooden Farms, a Huntington Gas Grill, a Sole Bike–520 mm, an Alligator Adventure Family Package, a Yeti YT35 W Cooler, and a Kathy Bunn painting of the Wam Squam.
