On Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m., a total of 50 Bladen Community College students received awards at the annual awards ceremony. Chairman of the North Carolina Board of Community Colleges, Dr. Linwood Powell, presented Computer Information Technology student, Robin Novak, with the Academic Excellence Award, North Carolina Community College System’s most prestigious individual award for each of its member colleges.  In order for students to be eligible for this award, they should have completed at least 36 semester hours in an Associate in Arts, Associate in Applied Science, or Associate in Science program of study and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better.

 Other award recipients in the ceremony included were Luis Araujo-Tinoco (Dallas Herring Award Nominee), Hannah McMillan (Robert W. Scott Award Nominee) Carol Hendrix (Student Leadership Development Program),  Merenda Moore and Tia Singletary (Adult High School Diploma), Melinda Norris (First Year Nursing), Shannon Williams (Second Year Nursing), Jamie Sanders (Practical Nursing), Tasha Todd (Business Administration), Kelly Hunt (Office Administration), Ryan Baxley and Levy Pait (College Transfer: Humanities and Social Sciences), Dymone Coe and Kelsey Hammond (College Transfer: Math and Science), Robin Novak (Computer Information Technology), Gilford Locklear Criminal Justice), La-Faith Council (Early Childhood), Sheena Pittman (School-Age Education), Tiffany Bullock and Tina Jones-Butler (Cosmetology), Gabriel Maldonado (Electrical Systems Technology), Randy Barfield (Industrial Systems Technology), Steven Jackson (Machining), Kaliq Lent and Eric Shelton (Welding Technology).

In addition, BCC Ambassadors Tara Godfrey, Carol Hendrix, Robin Novak and Randi White were honored as were SGA officers Tara Godfrey, Carol Hendrix, CynDavia McKoy, Katiesha Hayes, and James Johnson. SGA senators honored were Aaron Cox, Solomon Hammond, Amber Johnson, Kennedy Johnson, Shamel Kemp, Jessica Lewis, Briana Robinson, Noel Rogers, and Destiny Slacks. Members of the BCC basketball team, Devin Beatty, DeAndre Billings, Travis Cromartie, Solomon Hammond, Semaj Jessup, James Johnson, Nathaniel Pryor, Matthew Quiroga, DeShawn Reaves, Xavier Rhone-Lewis, and LaTyson Robinson were also honored.
