March primaries will be needed for three Bladen County Board of Commissioner races as filing for 2020 elections closed Friday.

William H. Moore of Elizabethtown filed for one of three county-wide commissioner seats Friday, bringing to four in the Democrat race. Other candidates on the ballot will be incumbent G. Michael Cogdell and challengers Mark Gillespie and Greg Taylor.

Also filing Friday were Danny L. Ellis of Elizabethtown for the District 3 seat. Ellis will face Ken Register Jr. and Judy Bowen in the Republican primary in March. There also will be a Democrat primary between James G. (Jimmie) Smith and Steve Peterson.

There will be a Republican primary for the District 2 between incumbent Daniel Ross Dowless and Rodney Hester. No Democrat filed in the district.

The other filing Friday was Republican Ricky L. Price of Harrells, who will challenge Democrat incumbent Ophelia Munn-Goins in the November 2020 election.

The primary election is March 3. The general election is Nov. 3.
