Red_Flag_warningThe National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning Saturday for all of southeastern North Carolina, including Bladen County. The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. for strong winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels which  means fires potentially could quickly get out of control.

Winds are expected to be from the west to northwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph with a relative humidity as low as 22 percent. The most dangerous combination of strong winds and low relative humidity will occur between noon and 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Freeze_warningSunday, a freeze warning will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. for Bladen County, the National Weather Service says. Temperatures are expected to be between 28 to 32 degrees during the warning period with the lowest temperatures expected to be between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday.

Impacts of the sub-freezing temperatures are to sensitive plants and garden vegetables that will be damaged or killed if left unprotected. Freezing temperatures may kill early foliage and seedlings.
