Five East Bladen Eagles – Garrett Melvin, Will Hester, Jay McKoy, Jacob Priest, Chase Starkloff – have been named to the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association All-Region 6 Men’s Soccer Team.
Melvin, a senior striker, who was also selected to the Class 2A All-State Team racked up 26 goals, 11 assists and 132 steals in just 11 games and recorded 6 ‘Hat Tricks’ of 3 goals in a single game.
Hester, a senior midfielder, piled up 233 steals and dished out 9 assists. McKoy, a senior centerback, helped anchor a backline that allowed only 4 goals in 11 games. McKoy totaled 213 steals for the season.
Starkloff, a junior centerback, posted 218 steals and was another key member of the Eagle backline that helped record 8 shutouts. Priest, a senior goalie, was credited with 21 saves and recorded 8 shutouts in goal. He only allowed only 4 goals in 11 games.
