The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Cape Fear River at William O. Huske Lock and Dam 3 beginning Saturday morning. The lock is located off N.C. 87 near the Bladen and Cumberland County line.

At 9 p.m. Wednesday, the river’s stage was at 33.8 feet at the lock. Flood stage is 42 feet. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage Saturday morning and continue rising to a crest of 52.1 feet Sunday night.

At 52 feet, extensive flooding will occur along the left bank of the Cape Fear River. Water levels will reach the door sill of the USGS well house.

The National Weather Service is forecasting up to 3 inches of rain possible Thursday in Bladen County.

A flash flood watch remains in effect through Friday night for some areas of Bladen County as the remnants of Tropical Depression Sally move through the region.

A warning indicates flooding is imminent or occurring. A watch indicates conditions are favorable for a flooding to occur.
