The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Cape Fear River at William O. Huske Lock and Dam 3 affecting Bladen and Cumberland counties.

Minor flooding is forecast until late Friday morning, according to the warning. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the river stage at the lock was at 41.7 feet at the lock and was expected to rise above flood stage of 42.0 feet late Tuesday night before cresting at 42.7 feet early Thursday morning. Water is expected to fall below flood stage late Thursday evening.

At 42.0 feet, water levels will top the navigational lock and equipment must be removed. Minor flooding will occur on land adjacent to the east bank of the river.
