Today marks the 74th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and is known by some folks as Pearl Harbor Day.

It’s the day when we pause to remember the bombing of the US Naval base at Pearl Harbor by Japanese Navy. It was a sneak attack and many ships were caught in port.

The attack is reported to have lasted about two hours and resulted in about 2,000 soldiers losing their life. About 20 vessels including some battleships were destroyed in the attack, according to historical records.

Following the attack then President Franklin Roosevelt declared war on Japan.

Take time today to pause and remember Pearl Harbor.
