East Bladen will recognize its football seniors Friday night when it plays Whiteville at Lenon Fisher Stadium to close its regular season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
West Bladen will play at Fairmont with each team seeking its first Southeastern Athletic Conference victory. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
East Bladen takes on a high-powered Wolfpack squad that enters Friday’s game averaging 44.9 points per game and is 4-0 in the Waccamaw 1A/2A Conference, 7-1 overall.
The Eagles, 3-2 in league play, 4-5 overall, are coming off a 43-0 win at West Columbus last Friday. East Bladen has won two straight games and three of its last four contests.
The victory against West Columbus put East Bladen at the top among conference 1A teams, although Pender (2-2 Waccamaw, 5-3 overall) would win a tiebreaker if the teams tie for the top conference 1A record because of a 44-12 win against the Eagles.
The regular season ends Friday, November 1. East Bladen has a bye on that date while Pender, which plays West Columbus on Friday, finishes at Heide Trask on Nov. 1.
In Fairmont, both West Bladen and the Golden Tornadoes have scored 72 points this season. The Knights have allowed 269 points in seven games. Fairmont has yielded 309 points in eight games.
Both squads are 0-3 in Southeastern play. West Bladen is 1-6 overall while Fairmont is 0-8. The Knights’ win came Sept. 12 against East Columbus 26-19.
Both teams have lost to St. Pauls — West Bladen 41-0 and Fairmont 43-0 — and Midway — West Bladen 37-12 and Fairmont 57-6.
