East Bladen High SchoolEast Bladen’s Eagles travel to Rocky Point Friday night to battle the Heide Trask Titans in a Four County Conference football game.

Coach Robby Priest’s Eagles completely revamped their backfield last week due to injuries, and the East Bladen offense piled up 535 yards of total offense in a 49-0 rout of Pender.

Junior halfback Kyle Tatum rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Eagles. Sophomore Xavia McDowell carried 9 times for 122 yards and a touchdown in his first start at fullback.

Senior Tyquan McMillian moved from quarterback to halfback for the Pender game and ran for 52 yards, before leaving with an ankle injury in the third quarter. McMillian is not expected to play Friday at Trask.

Senior Alex Coates started at quarterback against Pender and completed all 4 of his passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.  Senior tight end Zachary Johnson caught 3 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Sophomore Sincere Smith caught one pass for 25 yards and also intercepted a pass on defense. The Eagle defense held the Patriots to only 115 yards of total offense.

“We found out that we had a lot of depth at running back,” said Coach Priest. “We will probably start Friday with the same guys that finished the game last week.”

The Trask Titans will be playing their third game in eight days. After losing 38-34 at West Bladen last Friday, the Titans were beaten 38-12 Tuesday in a make-up game against Union.

Sophomore quarterback Tyrease Armstrong directs the Titan offense. Armstrong threw for 214 yards and one touchdown against West Bladen and ran for 73 yards and another touchdown. For the season Armstrong has passed for 529 yards and 5 touchdowns and has run for 283 yards and 5 more touchdowns.

Junior Steven Jordan who ran for a touchdown and a 2-point conversion against West Bladen leads the Trask ground game with 307 yards rushing.

Senior Johnathan Jordan heads the Titan receiving corps with 7 receptions for 192 yards. Against West Bladen caught 3 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown and ran for 2 more touchdowns.

“They’ve got 5 or 6 really good athletes,” said Coach Priest. “I would love to have them on my team. “

The Titans have been outscored this season by an average margin of 33-22. Their only win was a 44-10 victory over South Robeson.
