Whiteville (2-2) at East Bladen (3-2)

These two old Three Rivers rivals meet Monday night at 6:00, but in an odd spring football season it is even odder that the best these perennial powers can do is finish in 3rd place with a win. The TRC No. 1 and No. 2 playoff spots will be decided Friday night by the Red Springs/St. Pauls game.

Coach Robby Priest’s Eagles rode a 251-yard rushing performance from senior Rasean McKoy to a 51-16 victory over West Columbus Thursday night. McKoy has rushed for 817 yards and 8 touchdowns on the season and has caught 2 TD passes and returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Senior quarterback Zach Meares threw for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns in Thursday’s win and has now thrown for 262 yards and 5 touchdowns this season. Senior Javant McDowell caught 2 passes for 55 yards and a touchdown against WC. Junior Nazire Smith has 4 receptions for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Junior Shaheem Shipman leads the Whiteville runners with 476 yards rushing, including 266 yards in the season opener against West Columbus. Sophomore Kayshawn McCollum has gained 151 yards rushing. Junior Brandon Tyson has scored 6 touchdowns rushing.

Quarterbacks Wendell Smith and Tyler Hammond have combined for 130 yards passing for the Wolfpack.
