BLADENBORO – St. Pauls scored the final 34 points of their Three Rivers Conference football game with West Bladen Friday night to post a 62-20 football victory over the Knights.

The Knights drove 84 yards in 9 plays on their third possession of the game. Junior quarterback Tyre Boykin scooted 20 yards to start the drive. Boykin then connected with senior Nelson Drake on a 25-yard pass play. A penalty tacked onto the end of the play moved the ball to the Bulldog 26 yardline.

On third down and 13, junior Tra’shawn Ballard turned a pass from Boykin into a 17-yard gain. Boykin hit Drake with a 9-yard pass that moved the ball to the one, and Boykin carried for the touchdown on the next play.

On their next possession the Knights covered 72 yards in 7 plays. A 14-yard pass from Boykin to sophmore Shyron Adams gained 14 yards and a penalty tacked onto the end of the play put the ball on the Bulldog 43 yardline.

Adams raced 18 yards to pick up a first down at the 31, then two plays later Adams hauled in a 45-yard touchdown pass from Boykin. Boykin ran the 2-point conversion to pull the Knights to within 21-14.

After St. Pauls went up 28-14, the Knights answered with an 80-yard drive in ten plays. Boykin broke loose for runs of 15, 7 and 10 yards to start the march. A 7-yard run by Ballard picked up a first down, before Boykin fired a 13-yard touchdown pass to Adams to pull the Knights to within 28-20 with 2:01 left in the half.

The Bulldogs went up 35-20 at the half and added 27 unanswered points in the second half.

Boykin racked up 329 yards of total offense to lead the Knight offense. The speedy junior rushed 28 times for 143 yards and a touchdown. Through the air Boykin connected on 15 of 28 passes for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Adams caught 5 passes for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. Drake had 4 receptions for 49 yards, and Ballard snared 5 passes for 35 yards. Junior Andrew Brown had a 25-yard pass reception.

Senior Quamadre Cannady threw for 4 touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Bulldog offense. Cannady completed 10 of 13 passes for 213 yards and ran for 79 yards. William Ford had 3 catches for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Teammate Demonte Williams ran for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Knights will travel to South Columbus Friday night to battle the Stallions.
