West Bladen High School LogoWHITEVILLE – Quarterback Phillip Powell ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for another to lead Whiteville to a 35-6 non-conference football victory over West Bladen Thursday night.

Powell scored first on a 3-yard run then dashed 32 yards for the second Wolfpack touchdown. Junior Keshawn Bellamy ran the 2-point conversion after the second TD for a 14-0 Whiteville lead.

Bellamy added touchdown runs of 3 yards in the second quarter and one yard in the third quarter. Will Hinson kicked the extra points after both TD’s for a 28-0 lead.

Powell tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Bradley Pridgen for the other Wolfpack score, and Hinson tacked on the point.

Sophmore quarterback Seven Campbell scored a fourth quarter touchdown for West Bladen on a 3-yard keeper. Campbell threw a 22-yard pass to junior B. J. Drake that set up the touchdown run.

Campbell who came in at quarterback after senior Weston Pidgeon suffered a knee injury carried 3 times for 27 yards and completed the 22-yard pass to Drake.

Pidgeon connected on 5 of 17 passes for 42 yards and had one interception. Junior Davon Swindell caught one pass for 36 yards.

Senior Hunter Pait led the Knight defense with 10 tackles, and junior Zion Barrett finished with 8 tackles.

West Bladen, now 2-1, will travel to St. Pauls next Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
