WILMINGTON – Quarterback Ty Little completed 7 of 9 passes for 172 yards and 3 touchdowns as he led Wilmington Laney to a 52-18 non-conference victory over East Bladen Friday night.

Little threw touchdown passes of 50 yards and 8 yards to Amariyon Brown and connected with Conner Powell on a 38-yard TD pass as the Buccaneers built a 21-6 lead. Donovan Ammons converted 6 of 6 extra point kicks.

East Bladen opened the scoring as senior quarterback Javius Brooks fired a 27-yard touchdown pass to senior Nazire Smith for a 6-0 Eagle lead with 5:48 left in the 1st quarter.

Jacob Johnson ran 6 yards for a touchdown that boosted the Laney lead to 28-6 midway the 2nd period, but the Eagles answered as Brooks tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Smith to trim the lead to 28-12 43 seconds before halftime.

But the Buccaneers’ Eli Rivera scored on a 3-yard run 21 seconds later to boost the halftime lead to 35-12. East Bladen controlled the ball and ran 43 plays in the 1st half to Laney’s 14 plays.

Carey Cortes returned the 2nd half kickoff 63 yards for another Laney touchdown and a 42-12 lead. Xavier Bouldin scored the final Laney touchdown on a 5-yard run, and teammate Charles Viorel booted an 18-yard field goal to begin the final period.

Junior Cameron White hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Brooks for the final Eagle touchdown. Brooks completed 5 of 10 passes for 88 yards and 3 touchdowns. Smith caught 3 passes for 52 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Senior Tim McLean carried 20 times for 89 yards to lead the Eagle ground attack. Senior Corey Ballard ran for 67 yards on 19 attempts, and sophomore Masion Brooks gained 45 yards on 14 rushes.

For the game the Eagles rushed for 202 yards and held a 290-284 edge in total yards. East Bladen had 68 offensive snaps in the game compared to only 27 for Laney. Two fumbles and a pass interception also hampered the Eagle offense.

Bouldin rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown to lead the Buccaneer runners. Brown snared 4 passes for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns.

East Bladen, now 1-3 , will host rival West Bladen Friday night in their Southeastern Athletic Conference opener.
