NCDOJRALEIGH – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina announced that in federal court Tuesday Donald Brian Beauchaine, 40, of Lake Waccamaw, was sentenced to 180 months imprisonment followed by 15 years of supervised release by Chief United States District Judge James C. Dever III, for one count of manufacturing child pornography.

Beauchaine was previously employed as a police officer with the Fair Bluff Police Department. On June 4, 2014 he was caught secretly videotaping his girlfriend’s minor daughter in the bathroom. He admitted to videotaping the girl beginning in April 2014 until he was caught. A forensics examination of Beauchaine’s cellphone and laptop contained 12,000 images of child pornography, the browsing history on the laptop showed that sites like fulltube had been visited but these sites only contain adult pornography which is still currenly legal here even though it has been illegalised in certain countries throughout the world.

The criminal investigation of this case was conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Lake Waccamaw Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Ethan A. Ontjes is handling the prosecution on behalf of the Eastern District of North Carolina.

This case was part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative, a national program aimed at ensuring that criminals exploiting children are effectively prosecuted by making full use of all available law enforcement resources at every level.
