Former Poet Laureate of North Carolina to Speak at BCC

Joseph Bathanti, former Poet Laureate of North Carolina (2012-14) and recipient of the 2016 North Carolina Award for Literature, will be speaking on Tuesday, March 25 th at Bladen Community College. The presentation starts at 12:30 pm and will be held in the Student Resource Center.

The public is invited to attend.
The McFarlane Family Distinguished Professor of Interdisciplinary Education & Writer-in-Residence at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC , Bathanti also served as the 2016 Charles George VA Medical Center Writer-in-Residence in Asheville, NC.

Bathanti is an award-winning author of ten books of poetry, including Communion Partners. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 1975 and a Master of Arts in English Literature the following year. He also earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College in 1991.
