Burgaw, N.C.— Four County Electric Membership Corporation has donated fans to facilities that serve elderly citizens. In turn, the agencies give fans to the elderly who do not have access to fans or air conditioned living.

Summer months – June through August – inflict considerably high temperatures and humidity in our area. Seniors living in homes without air conditioning or circulating air face a greater risk of heat-related injuries during the summer.

“We help as many elderly citizens as possible stay cool during the hot summer months. Long term exposure to the heat without proper cooling equipment can have harmful results,” explains Gay Johnson, Director of Corporate Communications with Four County.

Four County EMC employees distributed fans to Bladen County Division of Aging, Elizabethtown; Pender Adult Services, Burgaw; Sampson County Department of Aging, Clinton; Duplin Senior Center, Kenansville; Garland Senior Center, Garland; and Columbus County Department of Aging; Whiteville.

If you would like to donate a new fan, contact a department of aging facility in your area or county.

The donations are part of Four County EMC’s commitment to the communities they serve. The Cooperative serves over 32,500 members in Bladen, Duplin, Pender, Sampson, Columbus and Onslow counties. For more information, visit www.fourcty.org.
