The weather may not indicate it is the fall season, but the Foxglove Garden Club is still helping decorate Bladen County for autumn.

The club distributed the flowers from their Annual Katie Mac Greene Mum Sale this week. Paula Greene, President of the club announced the club’s annual Mum Sale was a success this year.

The Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy cadets helped the club distribute the mums at Bladen Builders Supply on Tuesday.

“They came out in force and were tremendously helpful,” Mrs. Greene said.

The Mum Sale started in about 1996 as the club’s annual fundraiser, according to club member Mrs. Niki Dennis.

“We sold two hundred more this year than we did last year,” Mrs. Greene said.

Last year the club sells were down due to Hurricane Florence according to the members. The club uses the funds raised for their beautification projects in Elizabethtown . In the past, the club has planted flowers downtown for the Phase I Revitalization Project. The club also keeps the hospital landscape decorated with flowers, according to Mrs. Greene.

The Foxglove Garden Club has 33 club members and they meet quarterly to discuss ways to help their community with their gardening efforts.
