COOPERSTOWN, NY- Elizabethtown’s Freddy Wooten cracked a single to key a 2-run first-inning that carried Rock Solid Athletics Red to a 2-0 victory over Rock Solid Blue Wednesday night in the Field of Dreams baseball tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park.
Pitcher Shane Thorson drew a lead-off walk, and one out later Wooten belted a single that scored Thorson. Cameron Burgess drove in Wooten with a 2-out single to give Rock Solid Red the 2-0 lead.
Rock Solid Red will play at 10 a.m. Thursday in the tourney’s Sweet Sixteen on Field #5 against the winner of Wednesday night’s game between Titans Baseball from Virginia and Farmington Wolf Pack from Connecticut. Thursday’s games will be available on Dreams Park TV.
If Rock Solid Red keeps winning, they will play again Thursday at 12:30 p.m. on Field #10, then again at 3 p.m. on Field #10. The championship game is scheduled for 9:15 on Field #3.
