The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Bladen County and surrounding areas Saturday from 3 a.m. until 9 a.m.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees are expected in portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina, according to the National Weather Service. The warning is issue for Bladen, Columbus, Robeson, inland Pender, inland New Hanover and inland Brunswick counties in North Carolina.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service advises to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
A freeze watch means there is a potential for temperatures to fall to 32 degrees or lower. A freeze warning is issued when significant, widespread freezing temperatures are expected.
