Fun and dancing were the order of the afternoon Thursday at LuMil Vineyard as the Bladen County Division on Aging hosted Summer Jam. The well attended event saw 100 seniors enjoy cake, chips and drinks as well as fellowship.

“We are very pleased with the turn out,” said Division on Aging Director Kelly Robeson.

Lunch was served at all of the Division on Aging Nutrition sites and then those wishing to Summer Jam boarded BARTS transportation buses and were taken to LuMil Vineyard. While at LuMil, they were treated to Muscadine slushies and enjoyed dancing to music from the 1960s and 1970s. There was also a photo booth where they could have their pictures taken with their friends and family.

Esther Huntley, 96, enjoyed dancing. When asked what brought her out to the event, Huntley said, “Well, I think the fellowship is nice and I enjoy coming to it.” She said she has been dancing since she was teenager.

Bill Marsh and Mattie Cash took to the dance floor as well. He said he and Cash attend the senior lunches provided at the nutrition site in Bladenboro.  He said, “I love to dance. I’ve been dancing for 60 years.”

Everyone enjoyed the afternoon.
