East Bladen senior Gabe Barber has been chosen to play in the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association’s Clash of the Carolinas that is scheduled for late June.

Barber, the Three Rivers Conference Player of the Year and a NCSCA All-State selection, scored 24 goals, dished out 22 assists and totaled 423 steals for the TRC champion Eagles.

In the past the Clash of the Carolinas has matched the best senior soccer players from North Carolina against the best from South Carolina. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic South Carolina has pulled out of this year’s Clash of the Carolinas.

The NCSCA has decided to hold their own ‘NCSCA Senior Clash” instead. Four 18-member all-star teams from North Carolina representing the East, West, North and South regions will play in the event.

The “Senior Clash” will be played on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh and WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
