Spread the love

By Cara Beth Lewis

In Bladen County, the public library is so much more than “just books.” Although books are a huge resource, the library has so much more to offer its patrons and the citizens of Bladen County.

To name a few resources that Bladen County Public Library offers on their website, there is genealogy information (including Find A Grave, Family Search, Heritage Quest, and more), job opportunities, military history, a college preparation checklist, FAFSA, numerous health resources, homework help (including NC Live, Cliff Notes, Info Please, Math Practice, Purdue Owl, and more), and local news outlets. Additionally, there are multiple employment resources, passport information, and public records available.

At the library, books are free to patrons with a library card. A library card also allows computer use, free wifi, printing, various programs for children and adults, and electronic resources (including ebooks and audiobooks).

Each week, Storytime in the Courtyard offers a fun time for children to hear a story and enjoy time at the library.

For adults, the Pastries and Prints Book Club is a great way to share your love of books with others.

The library is the perfect place to rest or challenge your mind. Find a nice spot with a good book to relax, or take advantage of the endless information found in the library and grow your mind.

The Wanda Campbell Room is a valuable resource for Bladen County History and genealogy. This area is available for on-site, in-person research. For online genealogy research, the Heritage Quest website is free for library patrons.

The Bizzy Bus also travels, and it makes deliveries to schools and daycares, and even offers on-site storytimes. Homebound offers delivery and pickup of materials for homebound patrons.
