Gastroenterologist Dr. Melissa M. Garrett has joined Southeastern Digestive Health Center, an affiliate of Southeastern Health.

Dr. Garrett earned a medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Va., in 2000. She completed an internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., in 2003, and a gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in 2007. She is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Before joining SeHealth, Dr. Garrett worked as medical director for PAREXEL, a contract research organization. She worked as an assistant professor for nine years and an instructor of medicine for one year, both at Duke University Medical Center.

Southeastern Digestive Health Center will host a ribbon cutting in conjunction with the Lumberton Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday, March 26 at 1 p.m. Following brief comments and a ribbon cutting, light refreshments will be served in the clinic lobby.
