DELCO – Shy’Asia Ratliff and Alaya White combined for 21 points to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 31-26 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Acme-Delco Monday.
Ratliff topped the Lady Blue Devil scoring with 11 points, and White was right behind her with 10 points. Malayah Hines scored all 26 points for Acme-Delco.
White and Ratliff threw in 2 baskets each in the first quarter, and Addie Bowen pumped in a basket as Clarkton built an early 10-6 lead. Hines drained a 3-ball, another basket and a free throw.
Bowen, White, and Kaniyah Hairston dropped in a basket each, and Ratliff made a free throw to keep the Lady Blue Devils up 17-14 at halftime. Three baskets and 2 free throws from Hines kept the Lady Trojans close.
Ratliff took charge inside in the third quarter tossing in 2 baskets and 2 free throws as the Clarkton lead grew to 25-20. White netted a basket in the period. Hines rang up 3 baskets in the quarter.
Molly Evans sank 2 free throws and a basket in the final period to keep the Lady Blue Devils on top. White chipped in with another basket, while Hines answered with 6 points for Delco.
Evans and Bowen finished with 4 points each for CSD.
Coach Chris Callihan’s Lady Blue Devils, now 5-1 in Waccamaw Division A play and 5-2 overall, will host Nakina Tuesday.
