DUBLIN – Duke Committ Mikayla Boykin poured in 38 points Thursday night to lead Clinton’s Lady Dark Horses to a 71-33 Four County Conference girls basketball victory at West Bladen Thursday night.

Boykin drained four 3-point baskets and threw in 2 more baskets in the opening period as Clinton raced to a 25-6 lead. Senior Jerena Purdie powered in a lay-up, senior Laikyn Pait popped in a jumper and senior Akira Grimes banked in a 17-footer for the West Bladen baskets.

Boykin drove for 4 lay-ups and hit 2 free throws as Clinton widened the gap to 55-10 at halftime. Teammate Alex Canady bombed in a pair of 3-point shots and scored 10 of her 16 points in the period.

Pait put back a rebound and flipped in a one-hander for the Lady Knight points in the quarter.

Boykin tallied 7 points in the third quarter to keep the margin at 64-19. Junior Patience Parker tossed in a runner, and Pait pumped in an 8-footer for West Bladen. Purdie battled inside for a 3-point play, and Grimes drove for a lay-up.

Boykin began the final period by drilling a 3-pointer, but Logan Autry nailed a 3-point shot, and sophmore Erica McKoy banked in a runner for West.

Pait drove for a lay-up, and Grimes buried a 3-point shot. Autry put back a rebound, and Chasity Lacy fired in a 17-footer for the final Knight points.

“She’s the real deal,” said West Bladen Coach Rick Rhoda about Boykin. “She is intimidating with her ability.”

Pait topped the Lady Knight scoring with 10 points, and Grimes finished with 7 points. Autry and Purdie added 5 points each.

Grimes, Purdie and Pait grabbed 7 rebounds each to lead West Bladen on the boards. McKoy, junior Elizabeth Allbright and Parker pulled down 4 rebounds each.

The Lady Knights, now 4-3 in conference play and 8-9 overall, will travel to Union Friday night.
