SHALLOTTE- Senior giuard Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson made 2 free throws with eight seconds remaining to lift East Bladen to a 42-41 non-conference girls basketball victory over West Brunswick Wednesday night.
The Lady Eagles who defeated West Brunswick 61-28 earlier in the season battled back from behind after the Lady Trojans built a 15-10 first quarter lead.
East Bladen rallied to within 24-22 at halftime and edged in front 30-29 after holding West Brunswick to only 5 points in the third quarter.
Junior Patience Ward fired in 15 points to lead the East Bladen scoring. Moore-Peterson finished with 12 points, and senior Erica McKoy added 7 points.
“It was a very physical game that kept us in foul trouble all night,” said East Bladen Coach Patty Evers.
The Lady Eagles improved to 4-0 and will travel to South Columbus Friday night for a Three Rivers Conference game.
