ELIZABETHTOWN – Junior Shardajah Brown posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead East Bladen to a 49-26 Four County Conference girls basketball victory over Wallace-Rose Hill Thursday on Senior Night at East.

“Shardajah had her best game ever; the best of her career,” said Lady Eagle Coach Patty Evers. “We were patient tonight – more than in most games.”

Sophmore Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson finished with 9 points and 3 assists. “Ja’Tyra made some great passes down the court for us,” continued Coach Evers.

Senior Emily Scott celebrated Senior Night with 6 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Yolanda Coston filled the stat sheet with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a team-high 6 steals. Senior Justyna Gargala totaled 5 points and 5 rebounds.

“Justyna made a couple of big baskets,” said Coach Evers. “Yolanda did a great job defensively. The seniors did a lot of good things tonight. I am really happy for them.”

Sophmore Ashley Hardin racked up 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 points. Freshman Patience Ward pulled down 8 rebounds.

Brown and Moore-Peterson bombed in 3-point shots in the opening quarter, and both of them added 2 baskets each as the Lady Eagles raced to a 20-7 lead. Hardin and Scott threw in baskets, before Gargala beat the buzzer with a basket.

Brown nailed a 17-footer to start the second period, and Coston popped in a 16-footer then stole the ball and raced for a lay-up. Gargala beat the halftime buzzer with a put-back that padded the East Bladen lead to 28-10.

Coston drove for a lay-up to start the third period, and Brown tossed in 2 more baskets. Scott scored on a follow shot, and Brown turned a Moore-Peterson assist into a lay-up. Moore-Peterson drove for a lay-up and a 40-17 East lead at the quarter break.

Brown cashed in 2 more free throws to begin the final quarter. Scott, Ward and Hardin connected for baskets, and Gargala hit a free throw.

Seniors Justyna Gargala, Emily Scott and Yolanda Coston were honored along with their families in Senior Night ceremonies along with team manager Grey Cabellero.

The Lady Eagles improved to 9-2 in league play and 17-4 overall. East Bladen will travel to Wallace-Rose Hill for a re-match Monday.
