Senior Lacey Suggs posted her first double-double of the season Tuesday night as she tallied 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead East Bladen to a 57-10 rout of visting St. Pauls in non-conference girls basketball action.

Suggs also came up with 4 steals and blocked a shot. Senior Abby Ward led the Lady Eagle defense with 10 steals, dished out a game-high 6 assists and also scored 6 points.

Freshman Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson fired in 10 points for the Lady Eagles, and junior Lexie Mendell tossed in 7 points and was credited with 4 steals.

Freshman Ashley Hardin added 5 points for East Bladen. Senior Christiana Cromartie pulled down 4 rebounds, threw in 4 points and blocked a shot. Junior Emily Scott also collected 4 rebounds.

Suggs sank 5 of 6 free throws and added a basket to lead the Lady Eagles to a 23-6 first period lead. Moore-Peterson contributed a pair of baskets to the opening East Bladen blitz.

Suggs continued to pour in the points with 7 more in the second quarter that sparked a 15-2 run and grew the Lady Eagle lead to 38-8 at halftime.

Ward netted a pair of third quarter baskets that highlighted a 10-0 East Bladen spurt that widened the gap to 48-8.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season and will play Friday at Laney High School in Wilimington against Jack Britt in the Laney High School Thanksgiving Invitational.
