Senior Lacey Suggs posted a double-double of 17 points and 13 steals as East Bladen’s Lady Eagles rolled to a 60-16 Four County Conference girls basketball victory at Pender Friday night.

Junior Danielle McDowell tossed in a basket and 2 free throws in the first quarter, and Suggs, senior Christiana Cromartie and freshman Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson added baskets as the Lady Eagles grabbed a 10-2 lead.

The Lady Eagles broke the game open with a 24-3 second quarter blitz that stretched the lead to 34-5. Ward sank 5 of 6 free throws and added a basket during the run. Moore-Peterson netted 2 baskets and 2 free thows, Suggs canned 5 free throws, and Cromartie dropped in a basket and 2 free throws in the period.

Moore-Peterson and Suggs both bombed in 3-pointers and threw in a 2-point basket each in third quarter as the Lady Eagle lead grew to 47-14. Suggs drained another 3-point shot and made 2 free throws in the final quarter. Sophmore Shardajah Brown pumped in a couple of baskets in the period.

Cromartie grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, blocked 3 shots and tallied 6 points. Ward filled the stat sheet with 9 points, 7 steals, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Suggs also collected 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Miller Heustess, freshman Ashley Hardin and junior Michelle Page totaled 4 rebounds each.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles, the top-ranked Class 2A team in the state, improved to 10-0 in league play and 20-0 overall.
