LAKE WACCAMAW – Sophmore Patience Ward posted a double-double Friday night as East Bladen clinched a share of the Three Rivers Conference girls basketball championship with a 66-52 victory over East Columbus.

Ward connected on 10 of 15 free throw attempts and finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 7 steals. Junior Erica McKoy poured in 20 points for the Lady Eagles and added 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Senior Shardajah Brown pumped in 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the winners. Junior Anna Kate White tossed in 6 points, and junior Ashley Hardin finished with 5 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

The Lady Eagles built a 9-4 lead and padded that lead to 27-20 at halftime. East Bladen led 47-39 after three periods.

Guard Tia Campbell topped all scorers with 23 points for East Columbus. Teammate Arianna Daniels finished with 12 points.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles stretched their winning streak to 16 games in a row and improved to 15-1 in league play and 20-1 overall. East Bladen needs a win in one of their last 2 games to claim the title outright. South Robeson visits East Bladen Tuesday night.
