ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Erica McKoy fired in 20 points as East Bladen’s Lady Eagles celebrated Senior Night with a 68-22 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over East Columbus.

Senior Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson sank a basket and 3 free throws as the Lady Eagles took a 9-6 first period lead. McKoy and junior Patience Ward cashed in 2 free throws each in the quarter. Sophmore Alana Deal made 4 free throws in the quarter for East Columbus.

Ward sparked a 26-5 second quarter Eagle blitz with 2 baskets and 6 free throws. McKoy racked up 3 baskets and 2 free throws in the period. Moore-Peterson popped in a basket and 2 free throws, and junior Lorna Mendell and freshman Maya McDonald added a basket each as the lead grew to 35-11 halftime lead.

The East Bladen juggernaut rolled on with a 23-9 third period spurt that widened the gap to 58-20. McKoy filled up the rims with 4 baskets in the quarter. McDonald flipped in 2 baskets and 2 free throws, sophmore Katie Evans rang up 2 baskets, Ward converted 3 free throws and Mendell powered in a basket.

Junior Abbie Cross connected for a pair of fourth period baskets for East Bladen. Evans, McKoy and Ward capped the scoring with a basket each.

Ward finished with 17 points for the Eagles. Moore-Peterson followed with 11 points, McDonald totaled 8 points, and Evans tallied 6 points. Deal led East Columbus with 13 points.

Five Lady Eagles – McKoy, Anna Kate White, Ashley Hardin, Moore-Peterson and Moore – were honored on Senior Night.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles remain unbeaten in league play with a 16-0 record and are 21-1 overall. East Bladen will travel to South Robeson Tuesday night.
