TABOR CITY – East Bladen rolled to a 19-2 lead en route to a 73-20 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over South Columbus Friday night.

The Lady Eagles extended their lead to 35-16 at halftime and exploded for an 18-2 third quarter run that widened the gap to 53-18. A 20-2 fourth quarter East Bladen spurt stretched the final margin to 53 points.

Freshman Mya McDonald nearly posted a double-double with 20 points and 9 rebounds for East Bladen. Both totals were career highs for the 5-8 freshman.

Junior forward Patience Ward fired in 14 points for the Lady Eagles. Senior teammate Erica McKoy pumped in 10 points and dished out 4 assists.

Senior Ashley Hardin and freshman guard Alexus Mitchell tossed in 8 points each for East Bladen. Senior Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson chipped in with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 2-0 in conference play and 5-0 overall. East Bladen will host Red Springs Tuesday night.
