LELAND – Seniors Erica McKoy and Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson combined for 39 points Friday night to lead East Bladen’s Lady Eagles to a 75-47 non-conference girls basketball victory over North Brunswick.

McKoy poured in 20 points and dished out 4 assists to lead the East scoring, while Moore-Peterson fired in 19 points and contributed 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

“Erica did a good job of running the point and getting to the rim,” said Lady Eagle Coach Patty Evers. “Ja’Tyra did a good job of recovering from foul trouble and scored 17 second-half points.

East Bladen built a 16-10 first quarter lead and stretched that lead to 33-17 at halftime and 55-29 after three periods.

Senior Anna Kate White pumped in 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. “Anna Kate continues to give us a lift with a career-high 14 points tonight,” noted Coach Evers.

Senior Ashley Hardin filled up the stat sheet with 7 assists, 7 steals, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. Junior center Lorna Mendell tallied 5 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.

“Ashley anchors our defense and set some good screens to get our guards open,” said Coach Evers. “I thought Lorna played strong in the post.”
