ROWLAND – East Bladen’s Lady Eagles raced to leads of 24-6 and 55-7 en route to a 75-28 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over South Robeson Tuesday night.

Senior Erica McKoy blistered the nets with 5 first period baskets and a free throw, and junior Patience Ward popped in a basket and 2 free throws. Senior Ashley Hardin bombed in a 3-point shot, and freshman Maya McDonald, junior Abbie Cross and junior Lorna Mendell dropped in baskets as the Lady Eagles built the 24-6 lead.

McKoy drilled in a 3-point shot and 3 more baskets in the second quarter. Ward tossed in a trio of baskets, and senior Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson nailed a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw. Senior Anna Kate White pumped in a pair of baskets, and McDonald, Cross and Mendell added baskets to stretch the halftime lead to 55-7.

Ward, McKoy and Moore-Peterson threw in 2 baskets each in the third period, and Mendell flipped in another as the East Bladen lead grew to 69-15.

Sophmore Lily Lin scored 2 baskets for the Lady Eagles in the final period, and senior Kabarah Moore connected for the final East basket.

McKoy sparked the Lady Eagle offense with 24 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Ward finished with 14 points, 6 steals and 3 assists. Moore-Peterson tallied 10 points, dished out 8 assists and had 4 steals. Mendell totaled 6 points. Hardin racked up 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. White contributed 4 assists and 4 rebounds.

Nytia Lewis, a 5-11 senior, led the Lady Mustang scoring with 17 points.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles remain unbeaten in league play with a 17-0 record and are 22-1 overall. East Bladen will travel to county rival West Bladen Friday night.
