ELIZABETHTOWN – A 30-2 second-quarter blitz vaulted East Bladen into a 48-15 halftime lead and eventual 78-27 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over Red Springs.

East Bladen led 18-13 after one period before the second-quarter explosion broke the game open. The Lady Eagles outscored the vistiors 30-12 in the second half.

Junior Patience Ward poured in 22 points to lead the Lady Eagle scoring. Senior Erica McKoy pumped in 12 points, and senior Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson tossed in 10 points.

Freshman Alexus Mitchell scored 9 points for the winners, and freshman Mya McDonald and junior Lorna Mendell added 8 points each.

Jalexis Bratcher topped the Red Springs scoring with 11 points.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 3-0 in league play and 6-0 overall. East Bladen will travel to West Columbus Friday night.
