LAKE WACCAMAW – East Columbus defeated West Bladen 57-42 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference girls basketball action.
Guard Tia Campbell threw in a trio of baskets, and teammate Alanna Deal added two more as the Lady Gators raced to a 15-6 first quarter lead.
Junior Conner Brisson fired in a 3-point shot, and senior Elizabeth Allbright sank 3 free throws for West in the period.
Two baskets by Arianna Daniels and 3 points each from Campbell and Deal helped push the East lead to 30-17 at halftime.
Senior Patience Parker tossed in 4 free throws, Allbright put in a basket, sophmore Kasee Singletary pumped in a basket and a free throw, and Brisson nailed 2 free throws for West Bladen in the quarter.
Campbell dropped in 3 more baskets and a free throw in the third quarter, and teammate Shyniequel Watson hurled in a 3-point shot to keep the Lady Gators ahead 42-28 at the third quarter break.
Senior Chasitty Lacey nailed a 3-point shot and a free throw in the third quarter for West. Singletary popped in a pair of baskets, senior Mikayla Winebarger netted a basket, and Allbright canned a free throw.
Campbell made 6 of 7 free throws in the final quarter and topped all scorers with 23 points. Daniels rang up a basket and 3 free throws in the fourth period and finished with 11 points.
Singletary pumped in 2 baskets and a free throw in the final quarter and led the Lady Knights with 12 points. Allbright worked the paint for 2 baskets in the fourth quarter to total 10 points in the game.
Lacey bombed in another 3-point shot in the fourth quarter to finish with 7 points, and Brisson added 2 more free throws in the final period to also finish with 7 points.
Neither team lit things up at the foulline. East Columbus connected on 19 of 32 free throws, while West Bladen made 15 of 38 foul shots.
The Lady Knights are scheduled to host South Robeson Wednesday night after the exam break.
