Midway pulled away with a 20-point fourth quarter and defeated West Bladen 56-31 Friday night in Four County Conference girls basketball action at West.

Guard Leah Williams pumped in 6 of her team-high 11 points in the first quarter as the Lady Raiders built a 12-6 lead. Junior Laikyn Pait drained a 3-point shot for West Bladen in the period, and teammate Alanna Ludlum added a basket.

Pait nailed another 3-point shot and a 2-point basket in the second quarter, and junior Jerena Purdie sank a trio of foul shots in the period to keep the Lady Knights within 25-18 at halftime.

Midway’s Taylor Faircloth bombed in a pair of 3-point baskets in the third quarter to spark an 11-6 run that widened the gap to 36-24. Ludlum drilled in a 3-point shot for West in the period.

Sankey scored 5 of her 10 points during the Lady Raiders 20-7 closing run. Freshman Erika McKoy made 2 free throws and a basket in the fourth quarter for West.

Pait topped the West Bladen scoring with 9 points, and McKoy and Ludlum followed with 6 points each. Purdie finished with 5 points for West.

The Lady Knights, now 3-2 in the league and 5-9 overall, will host East Bladen Tuesday night.
