A 15-6 fourth quarter rally carried Pender to a 43-38 Four County Conference girls basketball victory over visiting West Bladen Tuesday night.

West Bladen took a 32-28 lead into the final period, but Taylor Marshall threw in 3 baskets in the quarter, and teammate Kam Thompson added 2 hoops to spark the Pender rally.

Marshall led the Pender scoring with 16 points, and teammate Daje Lewis scored 3 of her 11 points in the final period.

Junior Laikyn Pait tossed in a basket and 2 free throws in the opening quarter as the Lady Knights grabbed a 10-8 lead. Sophmore Patience Parker sank 2 free throws in the quarter, and junior Logan Autry and sophmore Elizabeth Allbright netted a basket each.

A 12-7 second period spurt put the Lady Knights up 22-15 at halftime. Pait canned 2 free throws, and Allbright, junior Jerena Purdie, junior Kaylee Stevens, freshman Erika McKoy and junior Kassidy Anderson scored one basket each for the Lady Knights in the quarter.

Four points by Marshall helped the Lady Patriots whittle the West lead to 32-28 at the third quarter break. Pait drained a 3-point shot and popped in another basket and a free throw to keep the Lady Knights on top.

Purdie and McKoy dropped in a basket each for West in the third quarter, and McKoy tallied 2 more baskets in the final period.

Pait made 2 free throws in the final quarter and led the Lady Knights with 14 points. McKoy finished with 8 points.

West Bladen, now 5-6 in league play and 7-13 overall, will host second-place Clinton Friday night.
