RED SPRINGS – Taya Jones pumped in 16 points Tuesday night to lead Red Springs to a 48-42 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over West Bladen.
 
Junior Carley Dawson dropped in a basket and a free throw, and senior Chasitty Lacey threw in a basket to keep the Lady Knights within 6-5 in the first period.
 
Junior Conner Brisson, sophmore Kasee Singletary and senior Indiyah Williams tossed in a basket each in the second period, but Red Springs led 19-13 at halftime.
 
Jones threw in 6 points in the third quarter as the Lady Red Devils stretched their lead to 33-22. Senior Patience Parker and sophmore Seniah Johnson canned 2 free throws each for West Bladen in the quarter, and junior Scajada Ellison popped in a basket.
 
Lacey drained a 3-point shot and two more baskets in the final quarter for the Lady Knights. Senior Elizabeth Allbright worked inside for a pair of baskets, and Singletary bombed in a 3-point shot in the period.
 
Jones made 5 of 5 free throws and added a basket in the final quarter to keep Red Springs ahead.
 
Lacey topped the Lady Knight scoring with 9 points. Johnson finished with 6 points, and Singletary and Williams added 5 points each.
