BLADENBORO – St. Pauls rode a 12-1 second period run to a 54-28 victory over West Bladen Wednesday night in Three Rivers Conference girls’ basketball action.

Senior Lexie Corrothers threw in a pair of first quarter baskets, and sophmore Haley George and senior Mikayla Meadows added a basket each to keep the Lady Knights within 10-8 at the quarter break.

Center Iyania Evans keyed the St. Pauls run that opened up a 22-9 halftime lead with 3 free throws and a basket. Corrothers hit a free throw for the only West point in the quarter.

Freshman Jakieya Thompson drained a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw in the third quarter as the Lady Bulldog lead grew to 37-15. Senior Kasee Singletary fired in a 3-point shot, Meadows worked inside for a basket, and Corrothers made a free throw for the Lady Knights.

Singletary and Corrothers sank 2 free throws and a basket each for West Bladen in the fourth quarter. George tossed in 2 baskets, and senior Seniah Johnson tacked on a free throw.

Corrothers led the Lady Knights with 10 points, Singletary followed with 7 points, and George finished with 6 points.

Evans topped all scorers with 15 points for St. Pauls, and Thompson followed with 11 points.

The Lady Knights, now 11-4 in league play and 14-6 overall, will close out the regular season at East Bladen Friday night.
