ELIZABETHTOWN – Center Iyania Evans powered in 23 points to lead unbeaten St. Pauls to a 58-47 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball overtime victory over East Bladen Tuesday night.

Evans dropped in 4 baskets to lead the Lady Bulldogs to an early 9-6 lead. Senior Patience Ward, sophomore Alexus Mitchell and junior Katie Evans tossed in a basket each for the Lady Eagles.

Mitchell drilled in a 3-pointer and a free throw in the second period, sophomore Mya McDonald and senior Lorna Mendell flipped in a basket each, and Ward tacked on a free throw. Iyania Evans muscled in 5 more points to keep St. Pauls up 23-15 at halftime.

McDonald buried a 3-point shot, and Mitchell pumped in a basket and 2 free throws. Ward popped in a basket, and senior Abbie Cross made a free throw. Iyania Evans netted 2 more baskets to keep the Bulldogs ups 31-25 at the third quarter break.

McDonald keyed a Lady Eagle rally by nailing a 3-point shot and adding 2 baskets and 2 free throws. Mitchell and Ward threw in a basket and 2 free throws each as the Lady Eagles knotted the score 42-42 at the end of regulation.

Guard Jakieyah Thompson sank 4 free throws and a basket, and T. J. Eichelberger hurled in 2 baskets and a free throw as St. Pauls rode a 16-5 overtime spurt to the win. Freshman AnnaGrey Heustess tallied a basket and a free throw for East, and Mitchell hit 2 free throws in the extra period.

McDonald, Mitchell, Mendell and Katie Evans all fouled out for East Bladen. The Lady Bulldogs lost Shakiya Floyd, Taliya Council and Tamyra Council to fouls.

Mitchell led the Lady Eagles with 16 points and 3 steals, and McDonald posted a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Ward finished with 9 points and 4 rebounds. Mendell grabbed 8 rebounds.

Eichelberger finished with 10 points, Tamyra Council totaled 8 points, and Thompson added 7 points.

The Lady Eagles, now 12-2 in the TRC and 18-4 overall, will travel to East Columbus Friday night.
