A 14-2 fourth-quarter blitz snapped a 15-15 tie and vaulted West Bladen to a 29-17 non-conference girls baskeball victory over West Columbus in Cerro Gordo Friday night.

Six different players scored in the final quarter for the Lady Knights led by junior Laikyn Pait who tossed in a basket and made 3 of 5 free throws during the winning run.

Junior Kaylee Stevens connected for a basket and a free throw in the fourth period, and junior Akira Grimes and sophmore Elizabeth Allbright added a basket each in the final quarter.

Three points from Stevens and a basket by Pait rallied the Lady Knights from an early 8-3 deficit to a 9-9 tie at halftime.

Grimes drained a 3-point shot and added another basket in the third quarter to keep the Lady Knights deadlocked at 15-15. Grimes topped the West Bladen scoring with 9 points. Pait followed with 7 points, and Stevens finished with 6 points.

Coach Rickie Rhoda’s Lady Knights evened their record at 1-1 and will travel to Fairmont Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game.
